Tasting Notes
APPEARANCE: Dark red with a vibrant ruby hue.
BOUQUET: Fragrant aromas of blackcurrant and subtle mint are
supported by understated oak.
PALATE: Medium bodied with fine tannin structure, the palate displays concentrated dark cherry fruit flavors, lifted by restrained hints of eucalyptus. An elegant, balanced wine with silky texture and a long finish.
Vineyard Notes
The lead up to the 2017 vintage saw exceptionally heavy rainfall throughout winter, which continued well into the new year, helping to flush soils and ensure minimal irrigation was required throughout the season. Budburst was delayed, which meant a later-than-usual start to harvest, but this allowed the growth of exceptionally healthy canopies and the development of slightly higher than average yields. By contrast, the comparatively dry harvest period that followed, allowed the grapes to develop evenly, showing intense flavor and color profiles and wonderful balance.
Winemaker Notes
Well-established winemaking techniques were used to create this wine. The grapes were carefully monitored and harvested at optimal maturity to ensure freshness and balance. The wine style is fruit driven, juicy and easy drinking, with a lovely texture and displaying beautifully defined varietal character.
